BRAIN WAVES BEANIE

MATERIALS:
    · Worsted weight yarn
    · Color Pattern A - 4 colors:  less than 1 oz each of 3 wave colors, small amt accent
    · Color Pattern B - 3 colors: 1 oz each of 2 wave colors, small amt accent
    · Color Pattern C - 2 colors: 2 oz of 1 wave color, small amt accent
    · US I-9 / 5.50 mm crochet hook
    · Tapestry Needle (for weaving ends)

FINISHED SIZE:
· ADULTS: 20” - 22” around
· KIDS: 18” - 20” around

GAUGE:
· Gauge is given in pattern instructions. Example: (13 sts, 1¼” in diameter)

STS USED:
· ST: Stitch - Shorthand for “stitch”.
· SL ST: Slip Stitch - Insert hook, YO & pull up loop and through 1st loop on hook.
· SC: Single Crochet - Insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, YO, pull through loops on hook.
· HDC: Half-Double Crochet - YO, insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, YO, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
· DC: Double Crochet - YO, insert hook into stitch, YO & pull up a loop, YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook.

NOTES and OTHER ABBREVIATIONS:
· R1: Round 1 - A shorthand way to indicate a specific round.
· BEG: Beginning
· REP: Repeat - Repeat the instructions starting at the asterisk ( * ).
· SK: Skip - Skip the indicated st.
· PREV: Previous -  The st or round you just worked.
· JOIN: shorthand for ending each round - Slip stitch in the 1st st of the round.
· YO: Yarn Over - Wrap or lay yarn over hook.
· FO: Fasten Off -  Cut yarn tail. Pull up the loop on the hook and pass your yarn tail through. Pull tight to close. Weave in ends.
· Magic Ring - See my photo tutorial, or my YouTube video tutorial.
· To Change Colors: Finish last st of round to last two loops on hook, YO with new color and pull through. JOIN with new color.
· Same St - The same st as the join, at the base of your beginning ch 1.
· Ch 2 counts as a dc; Ch 1 does not count as a st.
· PAY ATTENTION to where you start your stitches in each round so your waves line up properly. See my YouTube video tutorial for more help.
· You do not need to cut the yarn after each round. Carry each color up the seam and pick it up when you need it again. Be sure not to pull too tightly or leave the yarn too loose. The yarn strands won’t be felt or seen when worn. This will give you fewer ends to weave in and make a ravel-resistant beanie.

  1. Love this Beanie pattern! Thank you for sharing. I can’t tell you how many times I start a pattern and then it makes no sense. Your tutorial is easy to follow, I will try this!

  2. I love this pattern. I printed all of the sizes and hadn't realized that I wasn't making the large adult size, just the regular adult. Luckily, the yarn I was using was stretchy. So, I repeated rounds 23 &24 one more time, plus round 23 2 more times. The last 2 round 23s were done in the accent color. It fits and looks great!
